Rest day

Main site Rest Day.
What is your training schedule? Is it 3 on and 1 off or more like 5 on 2 off? If you're feeling fatigued, then it could be time to take a break. For the rest of you, catch up on missed wods, practice a Skill (i.e. POSE technique), or do the wod here.

95 pound Sumo Deadlift high-pull, 21 reps

Dave, our in house Marathon Man and newly POSE technique convert, trying to focus on the key points of the POSE. When you're tired and into the final round of a wod like "Michael", it can be hard to keep the focus on efficient movement. At that time when your legs are screaming at you to stop, think "move fast", "breath slow", and kick yourself in the butt with your heel. Be careful though, because like any technique it requires practice. Don't set yourself up for injury by just going out and thinking all you have to do is focus on one part of the technique. There are many drills to help learn the POSE. "Practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect."- Vince Lomabardi

You train at a CrossFit affiliate, eat in the Zone, sleep 9 hours, and then repeat. You avoid late night parties, cheat meals, and Coach's "extra" attention. All to attain better performance, but have you considered that your shoes may be hindering you? Like anything, better equipment most of the time means better performance. Quality footwear won't keep you from getting assigned extra Burpees from Coach, but they can add 10 pounds to your lifts, or even help you with balance and control.

Sumo Deadlift high-pull, 75 pounds (reps)

In this workout you move from each of five stations after a minute. The clock does not reset or stop between exercises. This is a five minute rounds from which a one minute break is allowed before repeating. On call of "rotate", the athletes must move to the next station immediately for best score. One point is given for each rep, except on the rower where each calorie is one point.

Add your points and post them to comments or board.

Megan works on her Shoulder press, while Carissa coaches her on finding full extension. Ann and Courtney await their turn.
Posterior chain issues typically limit an athlete's ROM, which is especially evident in the Shoulder press.  An athlete new to CrossFit training will spend a majority of their time trying to correct these issues by practicing proper technique. Someone can "do" CrossFit on their own and I guarantee they're doing it wrong. Until they've worked with a certified CF trainer, they have no clue of what they are truly missing in their training. They'll let their ego override rational thinking, and all the while most likely producing an injury to come, with a false sense of fitness.

We have a new name!!

Main site Rest Day.

SNCF WOD:
Shoulder Press 3-3-3-3-3

Post loads to comments or board.

So why did we change our affiliate name? What does it mean?
There has been some confusion with our name and other local affiliates. Also, in my opinion the old name was too long to type into a search engine or url box. At the time we picked it we were kinda out of ideas and we needed to get the affiliate up and running. We are in the process of renewing some paperwork so we took the opportunity to change the name. I know some of you have shirts and hoodies with the old name. Don't fret. We'll come out with new gear soon.  In the mean time, let people know of our new name and know that nothing has really changed. Once we are in a new location, the new name will fit in nicely.
CFT is Combat Fitness Test. The U.S. Marine's name for one part of their physical fitness test. We felt it was fitting because when you do a CF wod, it typically feels like you're in a fight for your life.
Feel free to let us know what you think of the new name.
